Farm Story


Branched Oak Farm is owned and operated by Doug and Krista Dittman with the help of their sons Nelson and Andreas.  We are a family operation and stewards of this 240-acre dairy farm tucked away in the hills of Lancaster County known as the Bohemian Alps, just 16 miles northwest of Lincoln, Nebraska.


We are committed to preserving the land and creating farmstead products that are healthy and wholesome, free of chemicals, antibiotics, or hormones. We take pride in knowing that we use sustainable farming methods, that have a positive impact on the environment and we are proud to produce quality food for our local communities.


We take a great deal of pride in the milk we produce.  Great cheese requires great milk and to make great milk we need healthy cows and healthy soil.  All of these things make us happy to produce food for your table.


Holiday recipes from our farm to your table:


Savory Quark Sweet Potatoes

4-6 sweet potatoes       2 T butter
1 8oz tub Quark          1t dried rose-
milk                               mary
salt & pepper to flavor

Peel and boil sweet potatoes.  Drain water, add butter and mash.  Stir in Quark and rosemary.  If desired, add milk for a creamier texture.  Serve hot.


Sweet honey, apple & cinnamon Quark


Finely chop one apple by hand or in a food processor.  Add 8 oz Quark, 2T honey and a dash of cinnamon.  Mix thoroughly.  Great for pancake topping or sweet fruit dip.

Quarkamole


Use one 8 oz Quark and mash it with one ripe avocado.  Add a clove of finely minced garlic and ⅛ t cayenne pepper.  Add salt to taste.  Great game day treat or appetizer.

Our products



We make specialty European varieties of cheese that include:  camembert, quark, havarti, mozzarella, feta, goudas and swiss.


Holiday gift baskets for $20 to $50 are available through email order to organicdairy@branchedoakfarm.com 


Shipping is available. Omaha area pick up will be at Tomato Tomato on Wednesday afternoons.  Lincoln area delivery can be arranged.

Beef & pork
We also have pastured pork and grass-fed hamburger available through our on farm Inconvenience Store.

Tuesdays AND Saturdays 11am-6pm
