It's been a beautiful summer and a very pleasant beginning to fall. We've enjoyed a successful farmers market season and the relationships we develop and maintain there with our customers. The farmers market season has drawn to a close with the Old Cheney Road Sunday market that ended November 1st. We brought a few new products to market this year: cheese curd, spicy cheddar, dill gouda and cumin gouda, a swiss-style "Sonnenburg", herbed Quark varieties that change throughout the season, and greatly improved the mozzarella. We have been working out the details of yogurt production for some time now and hope that the 2010 season will be the time to finally introduce our certified organic, cream-top yogurt made from our herd of grass-fed Jersey cows.
Doug and Ben decided to dry off the cows November 1, earlier than originally expected this year, so our regular Tuesday and Saturday hours at the "Inconvenience Store" are finished until April 2010. If you would like to order cheese for the holidays, please contact us to arrange delivery or pick up. We are now also capable of shipping cheese, so if you are thinking of a special gift for the holiday season, send an email with your preferences, the shipping address, and an approximate value of the package and we will be in contact to arrange payment.
Using technology more wisely has been a big project this year: Branched Oak Farm now has a Facebook page and is also hooked up with Twitter, the website has been updated a few times this summer, and we try to email customers more regularly with helpful information. If you would like to be added to the farm email list, just let us know. Within the next year we should also have the capacity to receive orders on line.
We are grateful for the opportunity to produce food for so many people in our community and look forward to continuing to provide for our customers again in 2010.
